Project Summary:

Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation (CHLDC) is a vital community resource in Cypress Hills/East New York, Brooklyn through its programs for youth, housing, workforce development, community organizing, and more. It launched into the mandated formation process for the Cypress Hills Fulton Business Improvement District (CHFBID) to strengthen their community's commercial businesses and opportunities. In Phase 1 of the BID formation, Perch Advisors helped the CHLDC to establish the CHFBID Steering Committee, comprised of property owners, business owners, and residents, which is responsible for leading the BID formation process. Perch then guided CHLDC and the Steering Committee to develop distribute, and analyze a Commercial District Needs Assessment, build consensus around the geography, services, budget, and assessment formula of the prospective BID, and created CHFBID's official support ballot. CHLDC and the CHFBID Steering Committee are in Phase 2 of the BID formation where Perch Advisors is assisting them with the collection of the Support Statements, and further engagement of the community to advance the BID's formation, so that the appropriate threshold of support is met and the CHFBID Steering Committee can move on to Phase 3.
